Hooplovin is back!!

Posted by on Feb 26, 2014 in Inspiration, Uncategorized | 0 comments

Hello hoopers! I know it’s been a while since I posted on here, I’ve been busy with the holidays and finishing off my last semester of college!

I’ve recently added some new hoops to my collection!! I was lucky enough to receive my first LED hoop as a gift this Christmas from my parents. I now have my very own a 32″ Rainbow Melt with 30 LEDs by CitivaCreationz. I seriously love this hoop it’s bright and colorful, super lightweight, and has good battery life. If you’re looking for a fairly priced LED hoop I definitely recommend checking out CitivaCreationz.

Katie Emmitt Interview, Part 2

This is the second part of a two-post interview with Katie Emmitt…

(Click here for part one of this interview)

Q: What does the word “flow” mean to you?

I’m actually working on the definition myself right now… I’m working on a lexicon project in my book arts class and flow is the word I’m choosing to use… really difficult to illustrate AND define, I think, particularly when us hoopers have such a spiritual connection to that word. Technically, flow is defined in this way -

“‘Flow’ is a psychological state in which a person is fully immersed in an activity and experiences feelings of energized focus and happiness and feels completely aligned with the task at hand.” ~ Katie

Matthew Porretta, the Man of the Hour

Posted by on Dec 8, 2013 in Inspiration | 0 comments

I came across one of Matthew Porretta’s videos this past summer when I was watching Electric Forest Hoop Troupe submissions on YouTube. He ended up winning the contest and was part of the EFHT 2013! I have yet to see another male hooper that inspires me to find my flow like Matthew does. I’m working hard to learn how to move naturally and gracefully with my favorite circle. I really love this video that Matthew posted recently. Head hooping, crazy wedgies, escalators, and so much more… check it out!

Katie Emmitt Interview, Part 1

“Hooping means happiness to me, it means spiritual, mental, and physical well being.” ~Katie

When I first picked up hooping, I watched a TON of Katie Emmitt’s YouTube tutorials (I still do). She gives indepth explanations that are really easy to understand and helped me get the confidence I needed to get started with hooping. Katie has allowed me to interview her for this blog and I want to thank her for taking the time to answer these questions.

Reading through this, it’s extremely clear how passionate she is about hooping. But she’s not only great at hooping; she’s an incredibly talented artist. Please take the time to check out Katie’s website where you can view her artwork. Katie also has a Facebook page and an Etsy account where she sells hoops, artwork, and clothing. I purchased a metallic performance hoop from Katie this past summer, and I’m absolutely in love with it. I’m very excited to have the opportunity to share her thoughts with you…

Babz again you ask!? I just can’t get enough… I’ve been working on learning a new trick lately that I absolutely love. This leg break is funky and tons of fun. It’s a bit challenging but I think this tutorial by Babz Robinson is the best at explaining this trick. Check out this weeks tutorial on leg breaks from vertical shoulder hooping! Happy hooping!!
