Chest rolls… beautiful, and fun, but oh so tricky. I’m still trying to perfect this trick myself, I found that learning the across the back roll first helped drastically with learning the chest roll. Katie Emmitt is a 21 year old visual and performance artist from Baltimore, Maryland. I came across one of Katie’s tutorials when I first started hooping. She goes into extensive detail in her videos and demonstrates how to find “flow” and incorporate it into hoop dance. Katie is exceptionally good at teaching different transitions and variations of tricks in her tutorials. She was kind enough to answer questions I had for her in a personal interview. The interview will be featured in a post soon to come!

Brecken Rivara is definitely one of my biggest inspirations. After watching this video I decided to buy my first polypro… a black one just like hers. Brecken’s an extremely unique dancer both with and without her hoop. I’ve watched this video countless times and it really never gets old. Check it out and watch Brecken shred on the hoop at Symbiosis in 2009.
Anah Reichenbach aka “Hoopalicious” has been recognized as the founder of the modern art of Hoop Dance! Anah spreads her passion for hooping by leading hoop dance workshops all around the world. Anah created The Hoop Revolution Teacher Training Program and developed a curriculum that helps teachers of hoop dance to connect on a deeper level with their students.
